A Summer Demo

I made this little demo over the summer, its quite different to the acoustic style of music I have previously created. I think it important to dig a little deeper and venture out into all types of music; there is something to be learned from every genre. This is tentatively titled no half clapping blues.

Track: No Half Clapping Blues

Bon Iver

“Playing what’s there makes you sound like everyone else. Playing what’s not there makes you a pioneer. Play from your soul, not what’s in front of you. Find what’s missing. Regurgitation is not creativity, and creativity is what makes it an art. As far as life goes, do your own thing. Life is always in front of you. Do you want a life to live, or do you want to live life?”

This is Your Brain on Music

Just finished ‘This is your brain on music’ by McGill neuroscientist Daniel Levitin, great read, highly recommended:

‘…. the power of art is that it can connnect us to one another
and to larger truths about what it means to be alive and what it means to be human.

When Neil Young sings

Old man look at my life, I’m a lot like you were …
Live alone in a paradise that makes me think of two.

… we feel for the man who wrote the song.

I may not live in paradise, but I can empathize with a man who may have some material success but no one to share it with.’
